Case Study

At Wee Ones we support our staff on their career journey.  Below is a story to illustrate that support.

I joined Wee Ones nursery in 2009 as a teaching assistant in the Montessori school and as a key worker in the day care facility. I very quickly felt at home and found my job to be varied, challenging, rewarding and wholeheartedly enjoyable.  Later that year we expanded the nursery and I took over the role of managing our new baby room.  During the next two years I focused on putting in place a qualified team who could provide the optimum care, security and nurturing towards our babies.  I also paid considerable attention to implementing activities and a daily routine, which ensured the babies were happy and received a well-balanced combination of stimulation and rest.

At the start of 2011 I was moved up to become team leader of the Balcony Room where I focused on the day to day workings of the nursery, planning of activities for the children and ensuring we focused on the individual needs and educational requirements of 1 ½ to 2 ½ year olds.  At the end of 2011 I was promoted to nursery manager where my focus has remained on delivering the best possible childcare and Montessori teaching.

During my first year with Wee Ones I qualified to NVQ level 3.  One memory that will remain with me was how much help I got at the time from all of the teachers and senior members of staff.  They helped me with my assignments and all the work that I needed to do.  Without their help it would be pretty difficult to complete the qualification at the same time as working full time.

I have had an incredibly varied, rewarding and meaningful job with Wee Ones.  I feel so grateful to have found an employer that has established such an inclusive environment in which to work and really does want to make a difference when it comes to children.
